Lost in the Chaos

This morning I had an 8am call with the owners of my company and a consultant that was proposing some work for us.

At 8am, I was shuffling kids out the door for school, Tia was starting a conference call, my phone was charging on the windowsill, turned off.

And I was blissfully unaware of the fact I was missing a call.

I drove the kids to school, slightly late again, getting into a radio war with Delaney along the way. He had been crabby all morning, having stayed up late reading (a post coming soon), and didn’t want to go to school. Kendall actually was very cooperative this morning, and for once, wasn’t the reason we were late.

I dropped them off, and with a cold (37F), misty morning, I stopped for coffee. I drove home, and then signed on to the computer for the first time today at 8:20. As I worked through email, I came across one asking for my phone number.

Whoopsie!

I emailed an apology back to a co-worker, then a second apology to the consultant that was presenting. And then a third apology to the owners of Red Gate.

It was my fault, I take responsibility, and I’ll claim illness for this one. I basically signed off last night around 6:30 (early for me), with my neck hurting and I lay there, reading a bit with the Kindle suspended above my head. But not for long.

Tia thought she had a migraine coming on, so I ended up getting kids in the bath, and putting Kendall to bed. Delaney was watching some TV with us, or me. I sat up for awhile since I couldn’t see the TV lying down. Then I lay down, fell asleep and woke up late today.

Just sent a 4th apology to my direct boss.

Sheesh, not a good work day.
