Removing a Port

When I plugged in my USB->Serial adapter for the weather station, it popped up the “New Hardware” dialog. My machine was running slow and so I pointed it to the CD that came with the adapter and had it grab the driver. A few seconds later another “New Hardware dialog popped up, and I cancelled it, thinking that it was a artifact of the machine slow.

Stupid me.

I should have read the directions, because apparently there are two drivers to install. When my weather station didn’t connect well, I decided to delete the port and start again. I found it in the Device Manager, removed it, then reconnected the adapter and it was found.

But no dialog to pick the driver. It was just added.

So I removed the adapter, rebooted, and then tried again. Same thing.

So how do I remove a port and it’s driver? I googled a bit and then checked my Add/Remove Programs, and nothing obvious there. Even a scan through REGEDT32 didn’t produce anything.

At this point, I’m not sure what to do. Either I can go get some other serial card or go get another USB->Serial adapter and go from there.
