Last day of the year outside. 2:10/100 which is much faster when I haven't spent half a day on ranch work

A little lunch at Classified, a private restaurant at EWR. Pretty neat, a bit pricey but very quiet

Planes, trains, automobiles Punctuated by shoes carrying me around the world Now a bus, riding through the English countryside Before more shoes, planes, and cars tomorrow.

I find myself lucky enough to find a seat in a train as I leave Cambridge, Lucky enough to be able and allowed to visit this small city in another country. I am smiling sadly as the memories of quick goodbyes with friends linger Tempered by the anticipation of meeting another colleague on a Reading, a city I've never visited The view backward, literally from my seat, and figuratively in my head is full of life. If I'm lucky enough the view forward contains more of the same.

My quiet corner in the Redgate office where I can take a break and strum for a few minutes.

A little reminiscing before the event today. Walked around campus, which I last did in 1986. This was Shaw,.my freshman dorm. I walked through the doors here one morning in 1986, checked my mail and went into the common area. I stopped to watch the space shuttle take off, intending to go study. Instead I saw the Challenger explode. A sad and wild day as many of us were glued to the little media we had trying to understand what went wrong. The glass sides are the dining hall, where I ate most meals. I'd often see Rony Seikly, Pearl Washington, Sherman Douglas and more in here at lunch. This was the closest dorm to the South campus area where they had afternoon practice.

That's my next plane over on the right. We've been on the ground for 45 minutes looking for a gate. The flight closes in 6 minutes. Will I make it?
