Like Dad

I read a lot, typically in the 50 book a year range. This year I'll likely get closer to 70 with the Kindle. It encourages more reading and makes it easy.

Tonight we were heading into karate. I was dropping Delaney off since my ankle was still sore, and watching his class. He said "I wish I didn't have karate and could sit and read with you."

Very cool.

He doesn't want me to read to him, or vice versa, but rather he wants to sit and read book 9 of the Pendragon series. I bought him books 5-8 recently, and then Tia had some gift cards and got him books  and 10. Each is about 450-500 pages and he's finished a few in 2 days, spending a week on others. He's very much into #9 now, almost done, and excited.

Last night I woke up at 2am, saw his light on, and checked on him. He was asleep, the book in bed with him, still open to the last page he'd tried to finish.

Kyle is very much the same, devouring books at pretty much the same speed as me. I bet he'll read more than 70 this year since he has more time than me, and he is very interested in books.

I hope Kendall picks up the reading bug as well. She's gotten some books lately and has been interested, something that she hasn't loved as much as the boys during this age. However with tutoring and an effort from Tia and I to read more with her, perhaps she'll get as excited about reading as the boys in the house.
